THE TEAHOUSE

How to meet many challenging heritage and urban constraints whilst guaranteeing conservation.

The OCD was commissioned to design a high rise hotel adjacent to the Robur Tea House in Southbank that in addition will fund conservation works and secure the future of the building. While recognised as a development site, the challenge was to develop a scheme that met the many constraints of the site due to its location and context. The site is a relatively small area in comparison to its neighbours, Crown Casino and the Exhibition Centre.
