Ghostly remnants of a dramatic landscape,

Hybrids combine urban design with street art to create usable and useful sculptures

HYBRIDS

Exploring public art integrated with practical functions.

The challenge in Hobart was to provide the sculptures in a relatively small footprint and respond to issues such as a lack of public furniture and landscaping and trees. We then proposed an additional layering of optional functions such as drinking fountains, wifi, way finding. The final Hybrids are a series of sculptures, inspired by the backdrop of Kunanyi, the incredible landscape and geology of Tasmania. The sculptures blend functional urban purpose such as tree planters, seating, lighting and a community poster pole.
